One of the greatest global military conflicts in the history of civilized nations is one that occurred within the past century and there are many survivors and veterans that are still alive from this tragic ordeal in history. If you have studied world history at some point in your education, then you would know that World War 2 was a very intense war that occurred over a period of years and involved many of the world’s strongest nations. This war, that began on September 1, 1939, was primarily a military conflict against Nazi Germany and its leader Adolf Hitler from the Allied nations, like Great Britain, Soviet Union, France, and United States of America. Some of the nations that joined Nazi Germany in their military efforts were Italy and Japan, which became known as the Axis Power Nations Alliance. This alliance formed as a result of the Tripartite Pact and its signing in Berlin, Germany on September 27, 1940.
The events of World War 2 started when Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist German Workers’ Party attacked Poland in 1939. Soon after the invasion of Poland, other surrounding European nations and the British Empire declared war on Nazi Germany. The United States entered the war later on as a result of the bombings on Pearl Harbor and other nations in the Western Hemisphere soon followed them.
After a lengthy six years of World War 2 battles, the Allie Nations secured a victory over Germany and Japan. The war finally ended with the surrender of Japanese forces on September 2, 1945 after the atomic bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Soon after this major victory, the United Nations were formed a month later as a means to prevent another global conflict of this magnitude from happening.
