NBA star and basketball legend LeBron James is having an interesting summer teaching Pandas how to play the game of basketball. This summer the NBA star is hosting his 2011 Lebron James Basketball Tour in the Far East country of China and he posted some pictures of him cuddling a small panda on his twitter account.
The 26 year old Miami Heat Star wrote on his profile “Chengdu Panda Reserve. Relaxing and holding down the Pandas!” on his twitter account with a snapshot of the special moment.
The 6’8” giant appeared to be having a fun time as he cuddled the cute black and white panda cub in his arms as it happily chewed on a stick of bamboo.
With the 2011-2012 Basketball season still up in the air, due to the lockout, the self proclaimed “King James” decided to utilize this time to travel to China and meet up with the local fans.
He kicked off his four-city journey around Asia last Thursday in Taipei, Taiwan, at the Taipei World Trade Center where he conducted a youth basketball camp. Yesterday, Lebron James was greeted by hundreds of cheering fans as he arrived in Xian and he thanked everyone for the warm welcome.
‘Wow what an amazing crowd in Xian!! Love the passion these people have,’ James wrote, ‘Basketball never sleeps!’
He has kept fans up to date with his regular postings on Twitter as he tours around Asia sight-seeing and playing in pick-up games.
This morning, the professional basketball player tweeted, “Shanghai, I’m here people! Let’s go!! Another great city in China.”
This is definitely not the first time the Ohio native has showed off his skills in the nation of China.
Lebron James was also a part of the gold medal winning U.S. basketball team at the Beijing Olympics in the summer of 2008.
James is building his global brand and he’s smart to do it in China. The country is really starting to love the NBA and the amount of money that can be made out there is tremendous.
It was a smart move for James and a small step in the right direction on his way back to being a hero rather than a villain.
