During last night’s BAFTA (British Academy of Television and Film Arts) awards the young and emerging actress Kristen Stewart, from the Twilight movies, receives a BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award. This award is considered to be an honorable accomplishment since the recipients are usually voted for by the general public and chosen out of a pool of potential nominees. Kristen Stewart came out on top as the big winner for this year’s trophy.
In order to earn the coveted title of 2010s best rising star, Kristen had to beat out actress Carey Mulligan from An Education, her Adventureland co-star Jesse Eisenberg, and A Single Man’s Nicholas Hoult among others. Although Carey Mulligan did not win the Orange Rising Star Trophy, she surprisingly came out on top during last night’s show by winning the 2010 Best Actress Award, which is a much better consolation. Kristen Stewart appeared to be quite nervous while delivering her acceptance speech but she did motivate her Twilight fans and thanked them for all of the huge support.
“I guess first I have to thank all the fans of Twilight for proving again and again to be the most devoted and attentive fans ever,” Kristen said. “Considering this is voted, credit is due to them so thank you.”
